Industry 4.0 in Mexican manufacturing companies
Synopsis
In a world with more than eight billion people, the growing demand for goods and services has caused an excessive exploitation of non-renewable resources, accelerating global warming due to CO2 emissions. This book proposes changing industrial production to solve this problem.
The book explores how the scientific, academic and business communities are collaborating on this challenge. It suggests using recyclable materials and renewable energy in manufacturing to improve the environment. But this transformation has hurdles. Although Industry 4.0 is an important change, its adoption has challenges. Costs and lack of collaboration in supply chains hinder its implementation. Skills and lack of infrastructure hinder its progress in developing economies.
Industry 4.0 is highlighted for companies, especially in emerging economies such as Mexico, for environmental and sustainability goals in the metalworking, automotive, aeronautics, chemical and textile manufacturing industries. However, it needs a strong network to connect resources and people.
The central goal of Industry 4.0 is to merge value and production in smart enterprises. Horizontal and vertical integration will enable automatic exchanges, connecting products, machinery, employees and consumers. The work presented here promotes adaptive production systems for today's challenges. This book is essential for those interested in industrial sustainability, business innovation and technology in creating an equitable and sustainable future.
