THE FANDANGO: POLITICAL AND DEMOCRATIC NEWSPAPER (1887-1896)

El Fandango is not properly a literary newspaper, in fact, what can be considered literary in the eyes of the 21st century is little compared to the political and social information it contains.
However, the articles that begin each of the issues of the publication and that we can consider editorial, in today's language, fit within some kind of literary essayistic writing. Their author, for the most part Jesús F. López, expresses himself with a refined language and his turns of phrase, as well as his style, can only be described as literary. López, who was responsible for El Fandango, is considered one of the best prose writers of 19th century Aguascalientes.
