IMPOSTOR LETTERS
Synopsis
Plagiarism is the superlative form of contempt. There are plagiarizing authors who trust that the editorial review or judgment will be lax enough to go unpunished; there are also writers who unintentionally plagiarize; but the editorial process involves the reading, correction, collation, review, marking and design of texts, and in this process, oversights and transgressions are detected. In publishing houses interested in their readership, there are several book professionals who guard the reputation of the constructed journey and the permanence of the company. Editorial processes are exercises in good faith and it is always possible that something escapes an entire editorial team, but responsibility obliges us to be on guard. Editorial culture can only have a culture of legality as its floor and intellectual probity as its foundation. Imposter Letters: Reflections on Plagiarism examines the types of plagiarism and plagiarists.
