THE COMMUNITY OF LAS ANGUSTIAS : Popular and Private Religiosity in the Feast of the Señor de las Angustias, Rincón de Romos, Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Authors

Pedro Antonio Hernández Serrano

Synopsis

In this book, the author reflects on the experiences, beliefs and emotions of the people who make up the town of Rincón de Romos, which are reflected in the activities they carry out to celebrate their patron saint, the Señor de las Angustias, object and subject of this collective effort to access the sacred.

In the search to specify his object of study, the author goes through different phases. From a process of simple descriptive analysis, he moves on to another of greater complexity and finesse, all in order to adequately characterize this act of religious faith around this icon of anguished and suffering face, battered body nailed to the cross. In it, more than an object of knowledge, he discovers unsuspected qualities that underlie the religious celebration, source of a collective identity and a future project for the whole community.
